Session 7 - on the trail of the Stone
Day 21 continued
The party went to the Yawning Portal, and spoke to Jalester. He confirmed they should drop in tomorrow and he would let them know about riding a griffon to make tracking down the Nimblewright easier.
They also spoke to Volo and Renaer.
Renaer revealed that Dalakhar was a spy of his father’s. He suspected Dalakhar would have asked them to deliver the stone to his father in Neverwinter.
The party relaxed and enjoyed some beers.
Day 22, 22 Mirtul
The party headed to Blackstaff tower, and found a wizard who would let Mumble copy Detect Thoughts for 75gp.
They visited the temple of Gond, and confirmed that the detector would detect any nimblewright other than Nim.
At the Order of the Gauntlet’s headquarters, Meera reported her suspicions regarding the Gralhunds.
At the Spouting Fish, Shyntithra spoke to Fel’rekt.
The party checked in with Jalester at the Yawning Portal, and were told to meet a Griffon trainer at the River Gate at dawn.
Day 23, 23 Mirtul
The party rouse early and went to the River Gate. Casey successfully befriended Bonesnapper the Griffon, then circled the city, establishing that there was a Nimblewright in the Southern Ward. The party tracked it to an alley, approached it, and were attacked. On the Nimblewright’s body was a map to a location in the Dock Ward next to the name Grinda Garloth.
After heading to the Temple of Gond to collect their reward (and receiving some unusual inventions as a gift), the group headed to Mistshore in the Dock Ward. They found some Xanathar stooges attempting to break in. They were lead by a dwarf with a crossbow mounted on the stump of his left arm.
The gang were defeated after a tough fight. A Merrow wielding a harpoon was particularly worrying, until it was driven off.
After the fight they spoke to the slightly deranged Grinda, who appeared to be some sort of alchemist or wizard. She said she had been told to look after the stone and had it over to the Xanathar guild, but had decided to keep it, entrusting it to her rat familiar to store in her family’s mausoleum in the City of the Dead.
The party returned to Trollskull manor to rest.
Day 24, 24 Mirtul
The party sold some loot, and purchased some items, then headed to the City of the Dead. The Garloth mausoleum proved to have been looted, with all bodies removed, no trace of any rat, but one clue remaining in the form of a steel key.
As they were leaving the graveyard, Meera spotted a Gazer spying on them, which was rapidly killed.
The group then continued on their way to the Dock Ward to visit the locksmith’s guildhall.

That fight was tough (but fun). The Harpoon is a rort weapon ... strange that it doesn't appear to be a PC weapon. How typical. Also there is a side quest from Grinda to loot some treasure from the bay, must not forget.
